Overview

Users can build a stronger connection between outputs and outcomes by linking their OKRs and KPIs within their Check-in updates. This way transparency on how team members' efforts are supporting outcomes or how their work is being blocked and reprioritized due to changes, further driving clear focus on outcomes can be increased.

ℹ️ Linking an OKR or KPI in Check-ins is available for all customers on Scale and Enterprise plans with access to the Check-ins feature.

Link an Objective, Key Result, or KPI in a Check-in

This functionality can be used only within the answer or note (e.g. blocker, request) filed when a user is publishing their Check-in and not when they are writing a comment under a Check-in.

For the option to link an OKR or a KPI in a Check-in to be available for a user, that user needs to have at least Access OKRs or Access KPIs permissions. If the user has only one of these permissions, then the user will be able to link only OKRs or only KPIs depending on their permissions.

Steps

  1. Open the Check-in form and click in the rich text field under a question or in a note.

  2. You can access the linking OKRs/KPIs functionality in two different ways - by clicking on the "Insert OKR or KPI" button or by typing the "#" symbol.

  3. A dropdown menu opens, which lists ten Objectives, Key Results, and KPIs from ongoing sessions that you own individually or as part of a team.

  4. If you cannot find the item you want to link in these initial results, you can search for it by starting to type the name of the OKR or KPI. If any results match your search term, they will appear in the dropdown together with their owners.

  5. Select the item you want to insert into your Check-in.

  6. The dropdown menu is closed automatically and а hyperlink to the linked Objective, KR, or KPI is now visible in the text field. You can click on it and a side panel will open with the details view of that item if you want to make sure you are linking the correct item.

  7. Once you are done linking as many items as you want in that field and any of the other fields, publish your Check-in, and the linked items will be visible for anyone reading your Check-in.

View a linked Objective, Key Result, or KPI within a Check-in

A user can distinguish between the type of a linked item (Objective, KR, or KPI) based on the icon before the name of that item. Each of these items is clickable and the side panel including the details of the OKR or KPI can be opened directly from the Check-in.

If a certain item has been deleted from Quantive Results, then the item will no longer be clickable, and instead of its name, the user will see "Deleted {Item}".

A linked item could also not be available to be viewed by a user for multiple reasons and will be marked as restricted:

  • The Objective is private and the user is not its owner and is not an Admin in the account

  • The user does not have access to the session in which the OKR belongs to

  • The user does not have permission to view OKRs (Access OKRs permission) or KPIs (Access KPIs permission)
