Overview

Recognizing the importance of connection and transparency across all aspects of strategy execution, we are giving you the ability to link Objectives, Key Results, and KPIs with each other through the Related Items section.

Linking Objectives or Key Results allows you to support an Objective or Key Result from different sessions without being aligned with it (for more information, see Aligning vs linking objectives.). One Objective or Key Result can support many others, so you can establish multiple relationships. Furthermore, to emphasize the type of relationship, you can choose from multiple linking options: relates to, blocked by, blocks, supported by, supports, continuation of, and precedes.

Linking KPIs to Objectives and Key Results bridges the gap between KPIs and OKRs. When you link a KPI, you can define whether the KPI leads, lags, or simply relates to the Objective or Key Result. This granularity provides the needed insight into the cause-and-effect relationships. Moreover, this increases visibility, equipping stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of your alignment to strategic results.

Link OKRs to OKRs

To link an Objective or a Key Result to another Objective or Key Result:

  1. Open the Objective or Key Result to which you want to link another Objective or KR.

  2. Scroll down to the Related items section.

  3. Click + Add OKR.

  4. A list of recently visited Objectives and Key Results appears if applicable.

  5. If you cannot find the OKR in the Recently Visited list, you can also search for its title or its Owner using the search.

  6. Click on the Objective or Key Result you want to link. The selector is automatically closed and the Objective or KR you selected appears under the Related Items section with the default relationship being relates to. When you open the linked Objective or KR, you will see that the initial OKR from which the link was made also appear in the Related items section.

  7. To change the relationship between the items, just click on the dropdown menu and select the right relationship. If the relationship you selected is e.g. blocks, that would automatically reflect as blocked by in the linked O/KR.
