Overview

Openness and transparency are key elements to get the most out of an OKR implementation within your organization. Singularity's Transparency Index measures how transparent and open your organization is when using OKRs. With the Transparency Index, you can evaluate how effectively your organization communicates and collaborates on OKRs.

Contributing Factors:

The Transparency Index is determined by five factors contributing to the organization's transparency and openness of the OKR implementation. Each factor is measured on a scale of 0 to 100 and carries a different weight in the overall Transparency Index score.

  • Key Result Updates

The Key Result Updates factor score is based on how regularly people update their Key Results. This score carries a high weight in the overall transparency score, as frequent updates ensure everyone is aware of the progress towards their goals. Companies can improve their Key Result Updates factor score by promoting a culture of constant feedback and emphasizing the importance of frequent Key Result updates.

  • OKR Access

The OKR Access factor score is based on how many people can access all OKRs within the organization. This score also carries a high weight in the overall transparency score, as broad access ensures everyone can view the organization's progress towards achieving their goals. Companies can improve their OKR Access factor score by providing that all team members have access to relevant OKRs across the organization and that the OKR hierarchy is transparently visible to all.

  • Sign-ins

The Sign-ins factor score is based on the number of unique users logging into the OKR system monthly. While this score carries a low weight in the overall transparency score, it reflects the usage of the OKR platform and hence the updates and collaboration between the users. Companies can improve their Sign-ins factor score by promoting and encouraging the use of Quantive Results.

  • Top-level Participation

The Top-level Participation factor score is based on how many top-level people in the company own OKRs and how active they are in updating. This factor carries a medium weight in the overall transparency calculation, as having active participation from the leadership team can help set the tone for the rest of the organization. Companies can improve their Top-level Participation factor score by encouraging top-level managers to participate actively in the OKR process.

  • OKR Descriptions

The OKR Descriptions factor score is based on the percentage of OKRs with an associated description. This score is crucial to the overall clarity and transparency of the OKRs in the organization. Companies can improve their OKR Descriptions factor score by ensuring that all Objectives have a description that accurately reflects the goal's importance and articulates how it aligns with the organization's broader strategic Objectives.

Summary

Overall, companies should aim for a score of 100 on each factor to improve their Transparency Index score. By regularly monitoring and improving the Transparency Index, organizations can ensure that they are transparent and collaborative regarding their OKR methodology.
